Water Atomised Stainless Steel Powder
Water atomised stainless steel powders involve some stainless steel grades, 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 410L, 430L, 434L, 409L, 201, etc.
Water atomization disintegrates molten stainless steel into fine droplets using high-pressure water jets. The process steps include: melting in a furnace, atomizing by water jets into droplets, solidification into irregularly shaped particles.
Water atomized stainless steel powders is ideal for compaction in powder metallurgy or pressing and sintering process due to interlocking ability. It is a cornerstone in powder metallurgy for mass-produced components. It can be utilized for gears, bearings in automotive components.
The particle size of water atomised stainless steel powders is 0-150um. The apparent density keeps between 2.6-3.2g/cm3. The green density at 600MPa keeps between 6.0-6.6g/cm3. The flow rate keeps between 23-40 sec/50g. Comparing to gas atomized stainless steel powders, it is cheaper, but higher oxygen.
