TRUER SPHERE – Ti6Al2Sn4Zr2Mo – T6242
Ti6242 powder –Titanium alloy Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo (Ti6242) is a near-alpha alloy with tin and zirconium as solid solution strengtheners and combines high mechanical strength, weldability, high temperature stability and creep resistance up to temperatures of 550°C (versus approximately 400 °C for Ti-6Al-4V). Ti-6242 is used to manufacture lightweight production parts where high temperature stability is critical. Examples from the aerospace industry include turbine components, afterburner structures and various applications in the hot zone of the airframe.
Our spherical Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo (Ti6242) powder can be prepared by the plasma rotary electrode atomization process (PREP), Electrode induction gas atomization (EIGA). It features low oxygen content, a high sphere rate, and good fluidity which satisfies different process requirements for Additive Manufacturing application, including Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF), Electron Beam Melting (EBM) Direct energy deposition DED.
